How it works
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup is an annual international golf series organized by International Golf for Youth. Each event held in a country or region during the year becomes that year’s national ‘The Duke of Edinburgh Cup.’ These competitions follow a handicap format in the Stableford style, adhering to R & A or USGA rules.
At least two Qualifiers from each event are invited to participate in the World Finals of The Duke of Edinburgh Cup, held in England during the autumn. The expenses for these Qualifiers, which include air travel, hotel accommodation, transportation, a welcome dinner, three rounds of golf, and the Prize Giving Dinner at Windsor Castle, are covered. This series of events is sanctioned by the R & A for expense payments, but no direct expenses are paid to the qualifiers.
If an individual event raises sufficient funds, the trustees of IGFY may, at their discretion, increase the number of qualifiers from that event.
The 36-hole World Final spans two days and takes place at two prestigious golf courses near London. Additionally, there is a friendly match with members of the Royal Household Golf Club, located at Windsor Castle.
The culmination of the event is a formal black-tie prize-giving dinner held in the State Rooms of Windsor Castle, graced by the presence of a member of the Royal Family.
